Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is fourth in the Roberts generation to live in Atlanta that began with her great-grandfather, a farmer John Pendleton Roberts. Her father was a young man when he started to be interested in the theater. As studying at Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. The air force was drafted in 1953. During his time being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi, was a part of an army production that featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in the air force. They got married in the year 1955 and their first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. The couple divorced in 1957. the military and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. The family relocated in 1960 into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working for Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou produced a Saturday morning local television show for kids named Bum Bum and His Buddies in 1964, and they were paid. They also founded the Actors and Writers Workshop in the same year. The workshop ran for six years. They welcomed in 1965 two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley as well as Julia Billingsley.
